Welcome to the FoghornMcBrook Home Page!
Foghorn McBrook consists of Jay Heath (bass saxophone, string bass) and Michael Brook (guitar, ukulele, vocals).
Jay Heath is a veteran of the United States Army Band, of countless musical engagements and recording sessions, and is the owner of Middletown Music in Middletown, Delaware.
Michael Brook was Philadelphia Magazine Best of Philly for Offbeat Entertainment in 1983. A fingerstyle soloist in the spirit of Chet Atkins, Michael recently completed an extensive engagement at The Eagle Diner in Newark, Delaware. In his spare time, he teaches mathematics at The University of Delaware.
Foghorn McBrook seeks to unite one of the boldest and most powerful voices among musical instruments, the bass saxophone, with two of the most intimate: the guitar and the ukulele. Saxophones are ordinarily thought of in a jazz context, and we do many songs in that style and approach, but we love the rhythm and blues/rock and roll sax traditions as well. Ukuleles have their Hawaiian origin and orientation, but we also like jazz, reggae or whatever comes our way on the little pluckers.
